Residents' petition

Some of the residents managed to construct a petition to pass to Mr Douglas Boynton when he visited the home on 5th May 2006 to tell them that it was to close. Because the residents are very old and very frail, they had to husband their strength, and so they expressed themselves economically and very directly.

This is what they wrote:

Leave me in my home.
Go away leave us alone
This is my home not yours
You have no right to take away our home.
We are all far too old to stand shifting.
Keep this home--We love it

Other residents simply added their names.

These are the people who are to be moved out, away from their home, if Aberdeenshire Council does not relent.

Don't forget: These people belong to the generation that saved us all. They fought Hitler and the Axis in the Second World War: they did it on the battlefields, and also on the home front. Their sacrifices preserved our freedom: now at the very end of their lives, when strength is failing, or minds are clouding, they deserve to be allowed to enjoy their last years in peace and tranquillity.
